In Amroha district of Uttar Pradesh, surprisingly the bridegroom and his family called off the marriage on the wedding day. The reason behind this was that the bride used to send WhatsApp messages to her in-laws before the wedding
Lucknow: According to some sources, a family in Uttar Pradesh called off their son’s wedding just because of the reason that the bride used to spend a lot of her time on WhatsApp. The bridegroom and his family decided to cancel the marriage on the wedding day itself, claiming that the bride used to send WhatsApp messages to her in-laws before the wedding.
As per the news, the whole episode took place in Naugaon Sadat village in Amroha. On Wednesday, the bride and her family were eagerly waiting for the groom at the wedding venue, however; the ‘baraat’ never arrived. Due to a lot of chaos, the bride’s father called the groom’s father who in return told him that they had called off the wedding just because his daughter used to send a lot of messages to them before the wedding, police told HT.
Superintendent of police, Amroha, Vipin Tada told the reporters that the groom’s family have claimed that they canceled the marriage, which was going to take place on September 5, due to the reason that the bride had a bad habit of spending excessive time on WhatsApp, and was used to send messages to her in-laws even before the wedding. However, the girl’s family has opposed the allegation and has in return said that the groom and his family called off the wedding over the demand for dowry.
The bride’s father has affirmed that the groom’s family decided to call off the wedding on the wedding day because they wanted the bride’s family to pay a dowry of Rs 65 lakhs. Bride’s father, Uroj Mehandi, had filed a complaint against the groom’s family, claiming that they had demanded Rs 65 lakhs in dowry. Mehandi told the reporters that his daughter was supposed to marry the son of Qamar Haidar of Fakeerpura. He further said that they were eagerly waiting to welcome the “Baraat” but when baraat did not arrive he called the groom’s father who in return told him about the cancellation of marriage.
